SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – A new cannabis dispensary held its grand opening ceremony on Tuesday, showcasing a touching backstory on how a family-owned business was able to turn their dreams into a reality.
A warm response on Tuesday for the Enlite Cannabis Dispensary, as the company officially opened its second location. The Indian Orchard spot comes expands on the success of their first dispensary in Northampton.
“I been living in this area for about 13 years and it’s the first time I ever seen this building so I am very excited for it to be here,” expressed Don Mega of Springfield.
“I think it’s pretty good,” added Fred Mahar of Springfield. “Definitely a high quality business.”
“I love the location,” said Dennis Williams of Springfield. “There’s no crime here almost, and it’s easy to get to.”
Matt Yee who is the COO of Enlite Dispensary told WesternMass News how he feels to finally be here in this moment.
“Oh, it’s fantastic,” expressed Yee. “Long time coming, we’ve been working on this project for quite a while now so to see it all come together and cut the ribbon and get it all opened up is fantastic.”
Yee said Enlite Cannabis is the first minority ran dispensary in Western Massachusetts to open two locations which he said wouldn’t be possible without his late father, well-known restaurant owner Andy Yee’s vision for this space before he passed.
“We saw this location as a perfect spot to service a couple different communities who have no dispensaries like Wilbraham and Ludlow, and Indian Orchard itself doesn’t,” explained Yee.
“So being able to provide products to those customers in the immediate area was really something nice to see,” said Yee.
Andy Yee’s dream and passion for Enlite Cannabis’ second location started three years ago after winning the bid for their Indian Orchard site to be built shortly before his passing, now his son matt says he is glad to be able to finish what his dad started.
“He would be elated! He’s always super excited for grand openings, always be there front and center but I know he’d be proud of the entire team and proud of myself too,” expressed Yee.
The grand opening ceremony was celebrated with the support of many local and state leaders in attendance.
Western Mss News spoke to City Councilor Zaida Govan about how she feels to see the Yee’s family wish come true.
“Well, I’m just in awe of the work that they did because it was a really long time coming,” added Councilor Govan. “I know the Cannabis Commission they had to wait for those permits and that takes a long time but they persevered and finally we are here, so I am really happy about it.
Enlite Cannabis Dispensary is now open to the public and this falls just one day before Andy’s birthday.
