Get a front row seat to a free online event with the leading experts in psychedelic therapy sharing thoughts on everything from navigating the complexities of psychedelic-assisted training to discussions on epigenetics and how psychedelic experiences can induce lasting changes in DNA expression. The Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy Global Summit returns for a second year with an impressive lineup of speakers sharing insights and innovations in the field. The free online event running from May 28 to June 03, 2024, produced by Heart Mind Institute offers clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and the public the latest updates on psychedelic-assisted therapies.
The event will host over 60 of the leading experts in the field of psychedelic-assisted treatments. Speakers will present groundbreaking advancements offering hope to those suffering from trauma, addiction, anxiety, and depression. They will showcase progress in research, clinical trials, and initiatives to reschedule psychedelic medicines for clinical use.
A sampling of the lineup includes: Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD, psychiatrist and author of The Body Keeps the Score, who is a leading educator and researcher in MDMA therapy for trauma; Hannah Mclane, MD, a physician, psychoanalyst, and founder of SoundMind Institute, a psychedelic training program aimed at educating and supporting psychedelic facilitators from all backgrounds and identities; Stanislav Grof, MD, a renown psychedelic psychotherapy pioneer, author, and developer of Holotropic Breathwork, co-founder and chief theoretician of Transpersonal Psychology, and founder of the International Transpersonal Association; and many more specialists in the field of psychedelic therapy.
The online event is expected to draw over 200,000 participants and aims to amplify the voices of “diverse practitioners and researchers contributing to the development of evidence-based protocols and training, sound clinical practice, accessible treatment infrastructures, and ethical standards emphasizing diversity, inclusivity, mindfulness, and compassion.”
The summit will feature discussions by pioneering psychedelic researchers Michael Mithoefer, MD and Annie Mithoefer, BSN examining the role of inner healing intelligence in psychedelic therapies such as MDMA-assisted therapy, which is nearing potential approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a treatment for PTSD.
Dr. Mclane of the SoundMind Institute will speak at the summit on exploring the similarities between psychoanalysis and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Mclane founded one of the first programs to gain acceptance of the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) to train psychedelic facilitators within the Oregon Psilocybin Program. “We aim to foster the growth of the most exceptionally trained, ethical, and insightful facilitators in the psychedelic ecosystem,” reads the SoundMind Institute website. “We achieve this through our unique approach to training facilitators in a diverse range of modalities—including but not limited to psychodynamic therapy, ceremonial plant medicine, and somatic approaches to healing.”
Other discussions will focus on research and rescheduling for clinical application and decriminalization of psychedelics from experts including Rick Doblin, Matthew Johnson, Paul Stamets, Rosalind Watts, Charles Raison, Albert Garcia-Romeu, Christopher Timmermann, and Patrick Fisher. The group will discuss everything from changing cultural attitudes toward psychedelics to the future of psychedelics and planetary health to the intriguing world of 5-MeO-DMT and its unique psychological implications.
Registration for the 7-day online event is free of charge and can be accessed here.
