WORTHINGTON — A Dunnell woman is charged in Jackson County Fifth District Court with second-degree controlled substance crime with intent to sell.
According to law enforcement reports, dispatch received two 911 calls on April 2 from a Jackson woman saying she felt unsafe with two other individuals she was in a car with. After locating and stopping the car in Jackson, one of the individuals was identified as Pricila Reyes, 20, of Dunnell, who told officers she had mushrooms in her car. The second individual confirmed she knew the mushrooms were in the car but did not know where, as did the vehicle’s driver.
While searching the vehicle, officers reportedly found a plastic grocery bag underneath the front passenger seat containing nine individually wrapped psilocybin mushroom cookies and $175. The packaging stated “High Shroom Society” and listed a dosage indicator stating that one square equaled 1 gram of mushrooms.
The vehicle’s driver told law enforcement he was helping Reyes move and that the two stopped at a Jackson apartment along the way to pick up another passenger. The driver reportedly said the mushrooms belonged to Reyes and that they had stopped in Jackson to sell them. He then showed the officer a text message from Reyes saying she had to “do a drop (of) $200 of shrooms” in Jackson. Reyes reportedly denied the mushrooms were hers.
If convicted, Reyes faces up to 25 years in prison and/or a $500,000 fine for second-degree controlled substance crime with intent to sell.
