Three people are being treated for injuries they suffered when a sport utility vehicle crashed into a cannabis dispensary in Attleboro, Massachusetts, according to authorities.
Attleboro police said the crash into Zahara Cannabis, located at 70 Frank Mossberg Drive, happened at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Investigators said an SUV crashed into the dispensary near the southwest corner of the building and continued to travel inside the building, coming to rest inside the dispensary’s retail space.
A Zahara Cannabis employee was struck by the SUV as it came into the building and suffered injuries to his right forearm and ankle, as well as a possible concussion, according to police. The 34-year-old man was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence to be treated for his injuries.
Officials said another person who was at the dispensary was also struck by the vehicle. Attleboro police said that person, a 42-year-old woman, suffered lacerations to her head and lower back, and she was also experiencing knee pain when she was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital.
The driver of the SUV involved in the crash, a 62-year-old woman, was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital with what police described as minor injuries.
All of the injured parties were transported from the scene by Attleboro Fire Department Emergency Medical Services personnel, police said.
A city building inspector also responded to Zahara Cannabis to assess the structural damage caused by the crash. Attleboro Fire Chief Scott Lachance said the inspector determined the building is structurally sound.
