Cannabis connoisseurs in Whistler have another option to choose from, with a very convenient location
The Nest Cannabis opened late last month at 103-7015 Nesters Road. The shop brands itself as “Whistler’s only locally owned cannabis store.” It is owned by husband-and-wife team Andrew and Karen Ellott, who also own Nestors Liquor Store.
“We’ve been wanting to stress we’re a locally owned and operated business. Staff have a combined total of 45 years in Whistler. We're familiar with the area,” said the shop's general manager, Bed Addley. “We know how to attend to what clients are looking for and provide what they need.”
The Nest is the fifth and final cannabis shop permitted to open in Whistler, operating with a temporary-use permit from the Resort Municipality of Whistler.
In a recent post on the store's Facebook page, Addley penned a poem describing the journey of opening and then thanked customers for their support.
“From opening our doors for our first local customer to our 1,000th customer and beyond! The Management and Staff of the Nest Cannabis, Whistler’s locally owned dispensary, send out good vibes and many thanks for your tremendous support of our first month of operations,” he wrote.
Addley said in a phone interview with Pique that the shop opened Dec. 20 to little fanfare.
“We quietly opened the doors and let people find us organically for the first bit,” he said, as the shopping plaza was already buzzing with holiday shoppers.
