PANAMA CITY — Local residents gained another marijuana dispensary on Friday.
Curaleaf opened its 33rd location in Florida on 23rd Street next to Dr. Vape It in the Walmart Plaza. Curaleaf also has stores in 23 other states.
At the grand opening of Curaleaf, a couple dozen people were lined up waiting to get their hands on the shop’s cannabis. One customer talked about constantly traveling to the Curaleaf store in Tallahassee and going to the grand opening of another Curaleaf store on Thursday in Pensacola.

The customer base in the Panhandle seems evident for Curaleaf to put a location in Panama City. Several other medical marijuana dispensaries have opened in Bay County since last year.
“Our delivery orders to patients in the region have continued to increase and we saw the need to offer greater access to premium products for our growing base of patients who live along the Florida Panhandle coastline,” said Jon Faucher, chief operating officer of Curaleaf Florida. “Panama City was an important location for a Curaleaf dispensary to open.”
Faucher added that listening to the needs of its loyal patients, Curaleaf is thrilled to open the Panama City store, its third Panhandle location.

Curaleaf was not opening at full capacity and letting in only a limited number of people at a time Friday. Customers outside did not appear averse to waiting since the store was offering 50% off on products for the grand opening.
Faucher said Curaleaf is unique because the company don’t operate as one-size-fits-all.
“We want our patient experience to reflect our mission: Cannabis with Confidence,” Faucher said. “The goal is to pair the right products with the right people, so that everyone may consume cannabis with ease, clarity and confidence.”
Curaleaf’s latest dispensary openings come as the company prepares to harvest flower from its new, state-of-the art indoor cultivation center. The flower will be available at dispensaries statewide in November, Curaleaf officials said.
The new dispensaries also will offer nano drops, which recently launched exclusively to the Florida market, and additional innovative products, including live blends cartridges, debuting during the next month.
