Bomb e rig review: big clouds at a low price – GreenState

With innovation happening in cannabis at a breakneck pace, there’s seemingly a new device on the market every week. From high-tech yet portable devices to modern updates of old favorites, the choices are endless. One of the latest weed gadgets to hit the scene is the Bomb e rig. While it looks strikingly similar to another famous dab rig, the Bomb stands out for its power—and affordable price point.

I’ve tried many dab devices in my day, and at first glance, I assumed the Bomb wouldn’t be anything special. But after giving it a try with fellow weed writer Cara Wietstock, I have to admit—it’s explosive.

The Bomb is a new electronic dab rig promising a powerful experience in a tiny but mighty package. For the uninitiated, electronic dab rigs (e-rigs aka e rigs) allow users to consume cannabis concentrates in a convenient and portable way.
I immediately noticed that The Bomb has a similar design to a Puffco Peak or Focus V Carta 2. Extracts go into a ceramic chamber known as an atomizer, which heats with the push of a button. Vapor is then inhaled through an attached glass bubbler.
The atomizer design is similar to the Puffco Peak Pro, featuring 360-degree heating and a joystick carb cap for even airflow. However, despite its slim stature, the chamber appears to be larger than that of the Puffco.

Much like the Carta, the Bomb has a digital display allowing users to set their preferred temperature, ranging between 200 and 700 degrees Fahrenheit. A battery indicator shows how much life the device has left and the progress made while charging (via the included USB-C).
The user manual indicates the average charging time is 2.5 hours with an expected battery life of 9-12 sessions. This is a somewhat lackluster performance, especially for the heavy dabbers. With an apparent lack of pass-through charging, folks may grow frustrated should their Bomb fizzle out before the fun is over.
Where the Bomb has Puffco and Focus V beat is price. The device starts at a cool $179 and comes in four colorways. For comparison, Puffco’s base Peak model is $220 and only has four pre-set temperatures, while the fully customizable Peak Pro is $420. The Carta 2 comes in around $350.
The Bomb is smaller than I anticipated out of the box, though the base is meatier than you’d think based on the size. In addition to the device, you get a water funnel, a dab tool, a few swabs, and a USB-C cable. The box itself does not function well as a carrying case, so hopefully, Bomb will release a travel kit soon.
The device turns on with five clicks of a control button on its back side. When the Bomb is powered up, an automatic 200-degree pre-heat begins in the chamber. It does have an automatic shutoff function, which seemed to take around five minutes of idle time to kick in.
To adjust the temperature, click three times in rapid succession. You then hold the button to increase, although if you go over, you have to hold it down to cycle back through—a minor inconvenience.

When you’re ready to dab, press and hold the button to reach your desired temperature or double-click for automatic heating. A disco-inspired light show will dazzle you until a solid green light shows, indicating you’ve reached lift-off. In case you aren’t sure, the digital display also shows the rising temp. Unlike the Puffco, there are no haptics like vibrations to help users know when the unit is ready, leaving those who are visually impaired out in the cold.
On the maiden voyage, the mere power of the Bomb definitely sent off a shockwave. A tiny dab of live rosin at 490 degrees created a massive cloud inside the relatively small glass chamber. Both Cara and I were pleasantly surprised at how hard the device ripped; there was certainly no need for a second round on my end.
For an entry-level e-rig, the Bomb is a solid and straightforward pick. While it lacks certain accessibility features and the full customization that some other rigs offer, the gadget delivers on its promise to provide big clouds in a little package. The GreenState team looks forward to seeing what the Bomb does next and keeping the device in our rotations—a high honor in a sea of weed products.
