Attendees will learn more about product characterization, strength, and effect and how to make recommendations based on customer preference.

Join us for a two-part workshop with exhibiting artist Sofía Luz Pérez and Syracuse artist Cayetano Valenzuela. In this workshop, Cayetano Valenzuela and Sofía Luz Pérez will share their own practices and processes in making a portrait/self-portrait and ask participants to create a portrait or self-portrait. The emphasis of the portrait should be on identity and cultural background/ancestry, but they encourage everyone to delve into any part of themselves or the person they are drawn to portraying. This is a free workshop with limited space available. We ask that you attend both sessions. Art supplies will be provided and you are welcome to also bring your own.
We want to personally invite you to an upcoming Central New York Town Hall on Goods Jobs and Equitable Job Access at Micron event on Tuesday, October 1st, 5:30-7 pm at the Syracuse Central Library. This is your opportunity – and our opportunity – to discuss what kinds of jobs Micron’s mega-project will bring to our region. Brought to you by: The Interreligious Food Consortium (IFC), Clayscapes Pottery, Inc. , Syracuse University and LeMoyne College Join together each year to fight hunger in Onondaga County by organizing an Empty Bowls fundraiser. 11-2- on Friday, September 27, at the Nancy Cantor Warehouse on West Fayette Street. All the money raised is donated to the Interreligious Food Consortium, an umbrella agency for many food pantries and meal sites throughout Onondaga County.
The Syracuse City School District is excited to welcome Pre-K to 5th-grade students and their families at the Everybody Counts: Fall Harvest Festival. Hosted by the SCSD Math Department, the event will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Performance Park, 415 W Fayette St, Syracuse, NY. This vibrant event offers families hands-on activities like finger painting, scarecrow races, and a scavenger hunt to foster community connections and support childhood development in a fun, festive setting. Fire Prevention Week will close out with an Open House Community Event at Fire Station 18, 3801 Midland Ave, on Saturday, October 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be fire and life safety stations for children to participate in. There will be Stop, Drop, & Roll as well as Stay Low & Go activities. The Syracuse Fire Department will provide and install smoke detectors throughout the year in one and two-family homes. Smoke alarms that are installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. Come out and help us beautify our community by planting trees at Schiller Park! Meet at the parking lot next to the pool. Registration begins at 10:00 AM, and planting begins at 10:30 AM. Come help us restore local forest cover under the canopy of 150 year old White Oak trees. Rain or shine. Open to all ages! Please bring water, sturdy footwear and snacks if desired. Prepare to get dirty. Proper tree planting will be demonstrated. Lunch will be provided at 1:00 PM!

FOCUS Greater Syracuse, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to fostering community engagement, announces its upcoming FOCUS Forum. The forum will take place on Friday, October 25, from 12:05 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is free and open to the public. The October FOCUS Forum is designed to offer insights into the key priorities and strategies of local funders. Prominent figures from leading institutions such as the Allyn Family Foundation, United Way of Central New York, the Gifford Foundation, and the Central New York Community Foundation will come together to share their wealth of knowledge and participate in an engaging and enlightening conversation. The forum will feature an expert panel of speakers including; Nancy Eaton the President of United Way of Central New York, Meg O’Connell the Executive Director of the Allyn Family Foundation, Frank M. Ridzi, PhD the Vice President of Community Investment of the Central New York Community Foundation, and Sheena Solomon the Executive Director of The Gifford Foundation.
