Raleigh, NC – What began as a glass art gallery in Raleigh has evolved into one of North Carolina’s premier destinations for hemp and cannabis products. Sherlocks Glass & Dispensary, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has established itself as a significant player in the region’s emerging cannabis market.
Founded by childhood friends Rob and Alex (last names withheld), the business originated from Rob’s expertise in glassblowing and Alex’s passion for collecting artisanal glass pipes. Their initial venture, Sherlocks Glass Art Gallery, opened in 2015 with a focus on American-made glass pieces in a market predominantly featuring imported products.
The business underwent a significant transformation in 2023 following changes in hemp legislation. Rebranding as Sherlocks Glass & Dispensary, the establishment expanded its offerings to include premium THCa products while maintaining its foundation in glass artistry.
“The journey started with a passion for high-end glass pipes, but the dream was always cannabis,” explains Alex, co-founder of Sherlocks. The dispensary has distinguished itself by exclusively offering THCa, Delta 9, and CBD products, notably avoiding alternative cannabinoids like Delta 8 THC.
The dispensary’s product line features Living Soil Exotic THCa Flower strains, Cold Cured Hash Rosin, and Hash Rosin Vapes. All products comply with federal guidelines, containing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC, as verified by Certificates of Analysis (COAs).

Beyond retail, Sherlocks has established itself as a community hub in both Raleigh and Durham. The dispensary hosts weekly glassblowing demonstrations at neighboring Durty Bull Brewing in Durham every Wednesday evening, offering visitors insight into the artistic process behind their glass pieces.
The business operates both physical locations in Raleigh and Durham, and maintains an online presence through their website, which offers educational resources alongside their product catalogue.
As the cannabis industry continues to evolve in North Carolina, Sherlocks appears positioned to remain at the forefront of the market, balancing traditional glass artistry with modern cannabis retail. “We want to focus on quality, not shortcuts. Customers deserve the best,” states Alex, reflecting the company’s commitment to premium products.
The transformation of Sherlocks from a local glass art gallery to a prominent cannabis dispensary mirrors broader changes in the region’s cannabis market, suggesting potential further evolution as state regulations and consumer preferences continue to develop.
