A company has purchased a 250,000-square-foot logistics center in southwest Ocala for $37 million in order to cultivate and produce marijuana at the facility.
The Ocala South Logistics Park Building 1 within the Florida Crossroads Commerce Park was sold on July 18, 2024, to 14130 Ocala, LLC, a newly formed company owned by Cultivation Real Estate Holdings.
According to a special warranty deed filed with the Marion County Clerk of Courts, the building was sold for $37,000,000 by Ocala South Logistics, LLC. That company is owned by Kansas City-based real estate development firm Hunt Midwest.
Located at 14130 SW 57th Avenue Road in Ocala, Ocala South Logistics Park Building 1 is approximately 251,388 square feet in size. Construction of the building was completed earlier this year.
According to state records, Cultivation Real Estate Holdings lists George Archos and Darren Weiss as managing members. Archos and Weiss are the founders of Verano, a marijuana cultivation and distribution company that employs over 4,000 individuals and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.
Currently, Verano operates over 120 dispensaries and 14 cultivation and production facilities across the United States. That includes 74 MÜV dispensaries throughout the state of Florida.
The additional facility in Ocala will increase Verano’s production space to over 1.25 million square feet, according to the company’s website.
The Florida Crossroads Commerce Park is now home to several large corporations, including a Pepsi distribution center that relocated just down the road from the Ocala South Logistics Building 1 in April.
The park is also home to Dollar Tree and Family Dollar Distribution Centers and is situated just two miles from I-75. Given Ocala’s location in the state, the park is virtually equidistant to Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa.
The new marijuana cultivation facility will join multiple others in Marion County.
Earlier this year, AYR Wellness, a medical marijuana dispensary with more than 60 locations across the state of Florida, acquired a 16-acre property in Ocala for $13 million in order to create a 98,000-square-foot cannabis cultivation facility.
