“A large yacht caught fire and eventually sank earlier today behind Booby Trap on the River, a strip club in Miami. The 95-foot vessel, which was reportedly docked at 3615 NW S River Dr., was being rented by renowned music producer and artist Metro Boomin at the time of the incident, as per Local 10 News. The fire was observed shortly after the yacht moored around 3 a.m., with employees at the club acting swiftly to evacuate about 10 guests and five crew members, “Around 3 o’clock the boat arrived, it was Metro Boomin,” Michael Marhefka, Director of Security at Booby Trap on the River, told Local 10 News, “The boat pulled up and they were on the boat maybe 30 minutes at the dock and we noticed what sounded like fire alarms going off. When we looked at the boat we did see some smoke inside the boat. We made the determination to evacuate the boat immediately.” According to Local 10 News, nearby residents witness heavy smoke as fire rescue crews from Northwest Miami-Dade responded to the scene to combat the fire.
Firefighters employed water and foam fighting the blaze for several hours, while at one point, a ladder truck was utilized for an aerial attack on the engulfing flames. The yacht succumbed to the river’s depths just before 7 a.m., now submerged, it remains tethered to the dock as crews draft a removal plan for the blackened remains, there were no injuries reported, and the investigation into what sparked the fire is ongoing. Following the extinguishing of the fire, efforts shifted towards environmental protection with the remaining units on site engaging in the containment of fuel leaking from the scorched wreck, intent on mitigating any further impact to the Miami River ecosystem, as fire rescue crews mostly finished the job and were just finalizing the environmental safety measures, no one was harmed as a result of the fire, and, while the yacht is deemed a total loss” – Hoodline News | Posted by Thrillz
