GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) -“We’re not just another dispensary. We’re the joint you’ve been waiting for,” said Charlotte Balerio, Canna Care manager.
Canna Care, located at 250 Fischer Ave. in Orchard Mesa, is one of ten cannabis stores allowed to sell marijuana with Grand Junction city limits.
The owner won a spot during the City’s licensing lottery system last year.
“We were the third people to be picked and of course, that was my birthday… on the third. We thought that might be meant to be,” said Lawrence Balerio, Canna Care owner.
Since March, Balerio ran into a few bumps in the road that delayed the opening, but he’s now ready to open the doors.
“We have a farm in Delta and we’ve been growing hemp for the last four to five years. I truly believe that the medicinal purposes that marijuana provides is a great benefit to the people who do use it,” he explains.
The healing properties of cannabis also reflect in the design of the space.
Charlotte Balerio, who designed the space, explains that the open design allows for shoppers to take their time browsing the selection, eliminating the pressure.
“We just wanted to keep that flow…just kind of mellow and a nice vibe,” she said.
Canna care will officially open Friday, with a grand opening slated in a couple of weeks.
