After the first round of medical cannabis cultivators and processors received licenses, Governor Andy Beshear announced some important dates for the upcoming dispensary license lottery at Thursday’s Team Kentucky Update.
On Monday, October 29, Beshear announced that 25 licenses were awarded to cultivator and processor applicants. In Christian County, Wong Investments, LLC and Joseph Serock were drawn for cultivator licenses, and Jill’s Dispensary, LLC was drawn for a processor license.
Beshear says they received around 4,000 dispensary applications and have only 48 available licenses. Beshear announced that the first round of dispensary license recipients will be announced on November 25, and the second round will be announced on December 16.
Beshear also shared that the Office of Medical Cannabis has reopened their application portal for testing labs, which will be responsible for ensuring that medical cannabis products are safe for consumption. The application portal closes on November 30.
Medical cannabis will be legal in Kentucky starting in 2025, more information about its implementation can be found at kymedcan.ky.gov.
