Letter: Palm Beach County sample ballot reeks of bias on recreational marijuana – Palm Beach Post

The sample ballot presented on the website for the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections reeks of blatant bias on one of the most controversial constitutional amendments proposed. For Amendment 3, fo legalizing adult personal use of marijuana, the sample ballot touts that passage “would generate at least $195.6 million annually in state and local sales tax revenues” and “is estimated to have a net positive impact on the state budget.”
While the sample ballot highlights the financial benefits from passage, adverse effects of Amendment 3 passage are neither mentioned nor considered; adverse effects such as impaired driving or negative health impacts especially on young children when marijuana is more readily and legally accessible in the community. I think it reprehensible that the supervisor of elections allowed such description of Amendment 3 to favor a ‘yes’ vote.
