SARATOGA SPRINGS — High Peaks Canna is seeking anywhere from 15 to 20 employees during its job fair Thursday as the company prepares to open its dispensary in Saratoga Springs before the end of July.
The company, which is co-owned by Roger and Christine Sharpe, will be located at 137 Maple Ave.
Roger Sharpe said he has been working in the cannabis industry for 30 years, so when it became possible to get a license in New York they jumped at the opportunity.
To prepare for the opening, the company is seeking employees for all positions, including managers, budtenders, security and delivery drivers, during the job fair between 1 and 7 p.m. at Whitman Brewing Company.
Christine Sharpe said they expect a lot of people at the store, which is why they’re hiring so many people.

“We’ll be two blocks from Broadway, so we just foresee a lot of foot traffic and a lot of business, and we want to make sure that we have enough staff to be able to talk to clients who want to be spoken to and learn about cannabis and just have it all be as streamlined as possible,” she said.
The Sharpes also said they designed the cannabis shop to reflect the style of Saratoga, so it will have a rustic Adirondack but bougier feeling to it.
The company will offer up to 600 varieties of product from roughly 25 farms, many of them local, all from New York, the owners said.

“We have a whole flower station,” Roger Sharpe said. “We’ve found this interactive flower station that we think is going to really set us apart for customers to be able to sample products safely. They can view them and smell them. They can’t physically touch them, but they have like a pod they’re allowed to view the samples through and it’s interactive. So, as they pick up that pod, there’s a touch screen in front of them that will interact with the customer and it will allow them to learn more about the strain, what farm it’s from, and they can also order it there and put it in their cart.”
As for entering the store once it’s open, people will be greeted by a security member who will make sure the person is 21-years-old or older. The customer will then go into a queue until a budtender helps them or they can see what the store has to offer if they already have a product in mind they’re looking for.

“So we’re going to have all methods of being able to help clients, whether they’re kind of curious or if they’re a seasoned connoisseur of cannabis,” Christine Sharpe said.
The business will also offer online ordering, which people can pick up or have delivered.
The Sharpes said anyone interested in joining the company should head to the job fair Thursday and bring their resume.
