More than 751,300 patients total have medical marijuana cards in Florida.
Trulieve Cannabis Corp. on Sept. 21 opened its relocated medical marijuana dispensary in Volusia County’s city of Edgewater.
The new dispensary at 2102 S Ridgewood Ave. now is open 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Sundays. Trulieve (CSE: TRUL) (OTCQX: TCNNF) also offers statewide home delivery, online ordering and in-store pickup.
Its new dispensary in Edgewater “offers a larger showroom with more amenities,” said Trulieve CEO Kim Rivers in a prepared statement.
The company opened its latest Orlando-area dispensary at 2121 W. Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka July 9. Its next openings include a store in Kissimmee.
Trulieve has been expanding rapidly in other areas of Florida, as well. For example, it opened a dispensary in Hollywood July 12 and three Tampa Bay stores in Auburndale, Lake Worth and Land O’ Lakes will come online in the next two or three months, previously said Amanda Ezell, Trulieve’s senior marketing manager in Florida.
Real estate has been identified for the next two Orlando-area locations, Ezell said, but opening dates are fluid due to uncertainty about when each store will pass Florida Department of Health inspections.
Florida’s medical cannabis market is hot right now, Ezell said, with increasing numbers of competitors. An average of 3,000 patients are being registered for medical marijuana cards weekly by Florida’s Office of Medical Marijuana Use.
Florida’s rising retiree population makes the state particularly desirable, Ezell said.
More than 751,300 patients total have medical marijuana cards in Florida, while 2,531 physicians are licensed to order medical marijuana for patients, according to Sept. 16 statistics released by the state Office of Medical Marijuana Use.
The cannabis company currently has 120 locations in Florida. Its largest competitors, MüV and Curaleaf, have 59 and 51 dispensaries in Florida, respectively. Trulieve has operated in the state for six years. Now, new competitors are entering the market on a monthly basis, Ezell said.
Trulieve dispensaries throughout Florida offer on-site consultations to help patients obtain appropriate medical products and dosages to ensure optimal cannabis experiences. The firm’s patients across Florida can choose from a selection of THC and CBD products in a variety of consumption methods, including smokable flower, concentrates, edibles, capsules, syringes, tinctures, topical creams, vaporizers and more.
Trulieve, a vertically integrated company headquartered in Quincy, operates in 11 states. The company has a market value of $2.09 billion.
